Privacy architecture & policy
Your private life should remain yours.
Tomozi is designed so the server can operate your workspace without reading the authored content inside it. Privacy is not one setting; it is the boundary every feature must pass.
Effective 25 October 2026Version 1.1
TRUSTED CLIENTYour browser
MEMORY ONLYWorkspace key
OPAQUE STORAGECiphertext
Encrypt before upload →← Decrypt after downloadThe trust model
Three different kinds of data.
Three honest boundaries.
Not everything can be encrypted in the same way. Tomozi separates authored content, necessary operations, and explicit disclosures instead of hiding that distinction.
01 / ENCRYPTEDWhat you create
Encrypted in the trusted client with record-bound authenticated envelopes before persistence.
- Tasks, projects, notes, reminders, goals, and habits
- People, meetings, decisions, bookmarks, Docs, and Canvas
- File names, metadata, and uploaded bytes
- AI conversations, sources, action summaries, and memories
- Vault item summaries, full payloads, Chamber names, and files
02 / OPERATIONALWhat makes the system work
Kept server-readable only where authentication, authorization, scheduling, relationships, limits, or payment require it.
- Account and authenticated session records
- Workspace ownership, relationship IDs, lifecycle, and timestamps
- Dates, schedules, status, quota counters, and encrypted byte sizes
- Plan, payment, provider IDs, amounts, and billing lifecycle
- Waitlist email or phone-verification security metadata when you provide it
03 / EXPLICITWhat you deliberately disclose
Selected plaintext may leave the E2EE storage boundary only for the action you approve—such as an AI request, public share, notification, payment, or verification.
YOUauthorizeONE PURPOSE
A record’s journey
Plaintext has one home:
your unlocked client.
01Aa
You create
A note, task, file, decision, or other workspace record begins in your browser.
02◇
The client encrypts
A random record key and authenticated entity/ID binding protect the content.
03•••
The cloud stores opaque data
The API, database, object store, backups, and logs never receive the content key.
04↺
You unlock locally
The active client unwraps and decrypts only what you are authorized to open.
L4Fresh item verification
L3Independent Vault session
L2VEK + per-item keys
Workspace E2EE
Vault goes further
A second boundary inside the first.
Vault combines your in-memory workspace key with an independently authorized server-held share. The raw Vault Encryption Key and every item key stay out of backend plaintext storage.
- Passkey-preferred WebAuthn, TOTP, or recovery authorization
- Separate keys for item summary, full payload, and encrypted file bytes
- Short Vault sessions, optional fresh item verification, and cross-tab lock
- No AI access, global search, public sharing, offline cache, or autofill
AI with a visible boundary
Permission before context.
Confirmation before change.
AI does not crawl the encrypted workspace. The unlocked browser selects and decrypts only approved records, sends the minimum request-scoped plaintext, and encrypts anything chosen for persistence.
1SelectYou choose records or grant a module permission.
→2DiscloseThe UI identifies scope and provider.
→3ReviewEvery proposed mutation waits for confirmation.
Services and processors
What another system may receive.
Providers are used for distinct operational purposes. Workspace plaintext does not become general billing, analytics, notification, or marketing data.
01PostgreSQL / Supabase
Ciphertext, account records, relationships, scheduling and other required operational metadata.
02Cloudflare R2
Opaque encrypted File, Note-image, Canvas, Document, Meeting, People, and Vault objects.
03AI providers
Only the plaintext you explicitly approve for that request; provider credentials remain in a separate protected boundary.
04Lemon Squeezy
Hosted checkout and provider-authoritative subscription/payment lifecycle. Tomozi does not handle card numbers.
05Resend and push providers
Generic reminder text and routing metadata—not your encrypted reminder or workspace content.
06SMS verification providers
The minimum phone-verification material needed for an explicit welcome-credit claim.
07Google Analytics
Only after you allow analytics: public page visits, controlled interaction labels, referral/campaign attribution, and standard device or coarse-location measurement. Never email, form values, workspace content, or encryption material.
Your controls
Access, export, share, revoke, delete.
Unlock & recoveryYour passphrase or recovery key unlocks the workspace. Tomozi cannot reconstruct forgotten raw keys from stored ciphertext.
SharingPrivate/public sharing is explicit and capability-based. Fragment-held share keys do not reach the API.
Deletion & retentionPermanent domain deletion removes the record and releases its quota. Required security and billing records follow their operational lifecycle.
Waitlist & contact dataA preregistration email is server-readable only for launch contact. It does not create an account or enter your encrypted workspace.
Optional showcase analyticsGoogle Analytics stays unloaded until you allow it. Declining sends no analytics request; you can revisit the choice from the footer without affecting waitlist or product access.
An unlocked device, browser extension, malware, or compromised client can access content visible in that active client. Use trusted devices, keep recovery material offline, and lock Tomozi when you step away.
A system worthy of your memory
Privacy should be understandable.
